Hi, all! Thanks for listening to the "Please Read" parenthetical: you won't be seeing many of those, but I ask that when you do, you follow the instructions
Basically, this thread is just to clarify the purpose of Paper Moon. Paper Moon is a multidimensional writing forum for the multidimensional writer. We try to appeal to people who not only love to write, but who love to critique, try new styles, and discuss the elements of a good story. It is, indeed, these qualities that make good writers: a natural inquisitiveness, willingness to experiment, and a deep passion for literature in itself. This is why we try to keep our forum divided into three important sections:
Writing/Critiquing
People can share their own stories on Paper Moon, as well as critique the stories of others. It's fairly straightforward.
Categories:
Navigating The Stars: The sharing category; this is where writers should post their work simply for the purposes of getting it out into the world
Through The Telescope Lens: The critiquing category; this is where writers should go to get their work examined in greater detail.
"Projects"
This isn't for everyone. The category labeled "Circling The Sun" is our project hub. "Projects" refer to little challenges that are given by the staff every month. They are silly, such as "Write a story/poem with a character only described as 'the man with the purple socks'" or "write a story that, at some point, makes important mention of a certain rubber duck." They are just fun little "assignments" that can be any length you want and will be shared with everyone else the last week of the month. If you want to participate, we would love you to In the last week, everyone reviews each others' story and a winner is decided!
Discussion
The most important part! There are two discussion categories, one for specifically discussing the work of other writers and one for more open discussion about literature in general and what makes for a good story. The former is called "Cloud Nine," the latter "Touch The Ground."
Well, I hope that cleared some things up! Thanks for reading
